What
makes Synergy
for Women the very best daily nutritional supplement available today?
In addition to
providing
a full range of isoflavones, Synergy for Women has 40 other powerful
nutrients—all
specifically formulated to promote optimal women’s health, both pre-
and
post-menopausal, including beneficial forms and amounts of all the
following
nutrients and many more:
- Vitamins
B6, B12 and
Folic Acid promote a healthy central nervous system, energy
production,
cardiovascular function and homocysteine levels.* Homocysteine is a
emerging
cardiovascular risk factor produced naturally by the body. Studies have
shown that the link between homocysteine and poor cardiovascular health
remains even after other risk factors such as smoking and high
cholesterol
are ruled out. However, homocysteine is normally broken down into
harmless
nutrients with the aid of vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid.
- Coenzyme
Q10 is
a necessary nutrient for normal heart function and is vital for
cellular
energy production. CoQ10 is a powerful antioxidant and free radical
scavenger.*
- Ginkgo
Biloba supports
circulation to the brain as well as the extremities. This is achieved
by
maintaining healthy blood vessel tone and reducing blood viscosity.
Additionally,
Ginkgo Biloba improves mental sharpness and is a proven free radical
scavenger
and antioxidant. Standardized Ginkgo Biloba extract is the most
frequently
prescribed herbal extract by both doctors and pharmacists
worldwide.*
- Standardized
Red Wine
and Green Tea Extracts contain many times the level of active
antioxidant
compounds compared to non-standardized, and several studies indicate
these
compounds may protect cholesterol and brain neurons from free radical
damage.*
- Vitamin
D and Calcium
deficiency are of epidemic proportions with our Standard American Diet
(SAD). Government surveys have indicated that teenage through elderly
women
consume grossly inadequate amounts of these essential nutrients needed
to maintain healthy bone mass. Worse yet, studies show soda (cola)
consumption
with phosphoric acid actually promotes bone loss due to its high
acidity.
Studies indicate that adding vitamin D at 700IU and Calcium Citrate
Malate
(a highly bioavailable form of calcium that is up to 1,100% better
absorbed
when compared to calcium carbonate) at 500 mg per day not only
maintained
bone mass but actually reversed bone loss over a three year
period
versus placebo. New England Journal of Medicine, 1997 Sep 4,
10:337,
670-6
- Thiamine
(vitamin B1)
and Magnesium are essential for the function known as the Krebs
cycle—the
primary biochemical path by which useful energy is extracted from
glucose,
amino acids and fats. Therefore, thiamine and magnesium are essential
for
healthy nerve function. Researchers studied 120 female college students
given 50 mg per day of thiamine or a placebo. After just two months the
students
who took thiamine more than doubled their scores on the
clear-headedness
and mood on a psychological test. Students taking the placebo showed no
change. Those taking thiamine also increased their quickness on a
reaction
time test. Benton D. Thiamine supplementation improves mood and
cognitive
functioning. Psychopharmacology 1997;129:66-71
- Vitamin
C
is essential
for healthy immune and cardiovascular function.* Studies have shown
that
low levels of vitamin C can cause fatigue and irritability.
Ester-C®
is the preferred form that is chelated to calcium that neutralizes its
acidity. This makes Ester-C gentle on the stomach. Proc Natl Acad
Sci
1996;93:3704-09
Synergy for
Women is clearly
the most advanced, foundational nutraceutical formula available today
to
meet the ever-changing needs of pre- and post-menopausal women.
Phytoestrogens:
A Woman’s Best Defense
Because of
their chemical
structure, phytoestrogens (estrogens from plants) function much like
human
estrogen. These totally natural plant estrogens, called “estrogenic
isoflavones,”
can contribute to the health of your bones and skin, help promote
healthy
cholesterol, and even play a role in your emotional health.
Additionally,
the body has good and bad estrogens, just like good (HDL) and bad
(oxidized
LDL) cholesterol. Phytoestrogens can help reduce the negative effects
of
the “bad” estrogens. When your body begins to produce less estrogen,
phytoestrogens
such as isoflavones can help keep your estrogen level balanced.
It
may surprise you to know that the physical and emotional symptoms of
women’s
life cycle changes are not necessarily universal. Women in Asian and
Mediterranean
regions, for instance, tend to have an easier time with life cycle
changes
than those in North America. Why? Scientists believe women in these
cultures
have a higher natural intake of isoflavones because soy and other
legumes
are among their dietary staples.
A daily diet
of soy
protein among Asian women has resulted in a population with lower rates
of breast cancer, uterine cancer, and osteoporosis, along with a
significant
reduction in menopausal hot flashes. A January 1998 study in Obstetrics
and Gynecology helps to confirm that it’s the abundance of
phytoestrogens
in soy, which are natural “good” hormone-like compounds, that reduces
the
frequency of undesirable symptoms related to women’s life cycle
changes.
The
many types of phytoestrogens
There are many
plant
hormones that we know act as “good” estrogens in the body. These are
classified
into groups—the flavones, flavanones, flavonols, chalcones, lignans,
and
isoflavones.
The most
common types
of phytoestrogens are flavones, lignans, and isoflavones, with the
latter
being the most potent. Lignans and flavones are found in most cereals
and
fruits and vegetables. Isoflavones, however, are only found in legumes
such as clover, soy, lentils, chick peas, and beans. Most American
women
will have modest levels of lignans and flavones in their blood and very
low levels of isoflavones. Due to a much higher consumption of legumes
in Asia, blood levels of the isoflavone phytoestrogens are 20-30 times
greater than those of American women.
Consequently,
the challenge
for American women is getting enough isoflavones. Our diets typically
include
little or none of the foods highest in isoflavones—so daily supplements
offer an easy, yet highly effective solution.
Soy
is great. Red clover is even better.
Let’s take a
closer
look at isoflavones. Of the considerable range of isoflavones consumed
by humans, only a small proportion are estrogenic. The most strongly
estrogenic
isoflavones are: Formononetin, Daidzein, Biochanin, and Genistein.
Soy
is a good source of Daidzein and Genistein, but contains virtually no
Biochanin
and Formononetin. You would need to eat other legumes such as chick
peas
to obtain Formononetin and Biochanin. However, red clover is one of
the few plants that conveniently delivers all four main estrogenic
isoflavones
present in the human diet. Clover is the richest source of
isoflavones;
the levels of estrogenic isoflavones in clover is at least 10-fold that
of soy.
Synergy
for Women provides all the important isoflavones
Synergy for
Women is the only nutritional supplement available which contains both
Soy Isoflavone
Extract and Red Clover Extract providing 10 times as many estrogenic
isoflavones
as the Standard American Diet (SAD) along with 40 other powerful
nutrients—all
specifically formulated to promote optimal women’s health. What’s
more,
all the nutrients in Synergy for Women™ are in their most effective
forms
and amounts. And of course, all the herbal extracts contained in
Synergy
for Women™ are standardized to ensure their potency. If your
supplement
does not list standardized herbs, then you could be getting just a
small
percent of the active ingredient. We encourage you to compare your
current supplement with the Synergy for Women™ formulation listed on
this
page.
Only
Synergy
for Women provides these doctor-endorsed nutrients designed to
naturally
support and maintain physical and emotional well-being throughout your
natural life cycles.
